Florian Marino back in World Supersport !
From this weekend in Brno, the French WSBK clan will have an additional member: Florian Marino will line up in the Supersport category on a ZX-6R alongside Foret, Cluzel, Lanusse and Debise! The expatriate in Great Britain returns to business…
The surprise is as good as it is total: Florian Marino will participate in the second half of the Mondial Supersport season! After a far too disappointing start to the year in British Superbike, the young Frenchie will make his comeback – which we hope will be "big" – from this weekend on the occasion of Max Biaggi but also Marco Melandri Republique. Czech !
"We are sad to see Florian go but we think that is the best thing for him today", declared last week his former employer, John Dimbylow. And for good reason: in 13 races, his driver n ° 21 has not registered a single point … just like his n ° 14, a certain John Laverty (big brother of Eugene).
"Personally, I will miss this boy very much. He has a terrific personality and his sense of humor keeps me entertained all day long. He had become a member of my family", continues the co-owner of the Splitlath Redmond team, visibly moved..
Dimbylow’s partner, athlete Derek Redmond himself, also regrets this separation: "this guy has a huge talent and we all enjoyed working with him". But the ex-star of the English 400m also agrees that his private RSV4 – big money and luck – did not risk taking Florian very high.
It is therefore on the handlebars of a ZX-6R that our hopes will try to bounce back! "The 19-year-old from Cannes, who made a good impression in Supersport when he raced for Honda Ten Kate in 2011, will line up in a Kawasaki MSD R-N Racing Team India which will make his Brno debut.", warns Infront.
Still according to the championship promoter, "brand new, the team will however benefit over the rest of the season from the invaluable help of the experienced Andrew Stone, current chief mechanic of Fabien Foret in the Kawasaki Intermoto Step team.".
It is only next year that the Briton will take over the role of technical director of the new Indian team. "The objective is to stimulate motor sports in this country during a season which will see the first Indian event take place on March 8, 9 and 10, 2013 on the Buddh international circuit located in the suburbs of Delhi.".
Florian Marino is therefore back in World Supersport by the front door, after having left it with a much smaller one at the end of 2011: the second season scheduled for No.21 at Ten Kate had to be canceled, the Batavian team having "lost its main sponsor", testifies the pilot on his official website.
However, the vice-champion of Superstock 600 in 2010 – with Ten Kate already – had not disappointed during his: 8th in the general classification, Marino had hardly ever left the Top 10 and won a 4th place in Imola (read our).
This weekend will therefore see the return to business of one of the greatest hopes of French speed. The new Kawa ‘n ° 21 will be to follow closely throughout this end of the season, to be experienced every Sunday almost live on Site !
