Loris Baz package for Laguna Seca and uncertain for Magny-Cours…

Loris Baz’s "tweet" on Twitter last Friday did not bode well: "By now, I should be on the plane to the USA". But our Green Giant did not just miss his plane, but learned that he would not be rolling this weekend…

It is indeed clear at the end of the last medical examinations carried out on Loris that his fracture to a vertebra indeed dates from his ugly caper during the German warm-up (read our). Removed as a precaution from the Istanbul track eight days ago, the No.76 will therefore not be back in Laguna Seca either..

"I am sad to announce that I will not be driving at Laguna Seca", confirms Loris:"my vertebra is well fractured from the Nurburgring and I need to rest".

Caught off guard in Turkey, the official Kawasaki World Superbike team has planned to replace its "Bazooka" in the United States with David Salom, a rider entered this year on a ZX-6R within the Kawasaki Intermoto team in the Supersport World Championship..

A member of the Kawasaki Pedercini team last season, Salom’s best result was a 10th place in Moscow – the best of his career with 48 WSBK starts – and was placed 21st in the 2012 WSBK championship with a total of 22 points.

"We asked David Salom to ride the official Ninja ZX-10R in America alongside Tom and he took the chance and rose to the challenge.", underlines Guim Roda, head of the Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT).

"We know him well, because we were second together at the Supersport World Championship in 2011. We are fully aware of his value as a driver.", assures the big boss of the Greens, convinced that this freelance will help his foal to start again on the right foot (he is currently only 17th in WSSP).

Salom’s goal is clear this weekend: "there will be at least two other substitute drivers in other teams during this event (, Editor’s note), so our goal is to try to beat them", announces Guim Roda. We imagine that the guest drivers (Roger Lee Hayden, Danny Eslick and Glen Allerton) will also have to stay behind the Kawasaki n ° 44…

"Loris should be able to ride at Magny-Cours, as he will have had a few weeks to recover from his spinal injury", officially indicates Seignor Roda."His recovery is so important that we considered it preferable that he stay at home again..
