WSBK - Private practice in Misano: the Superbike never stops turning! - Misano WSBK 2016 test: driver statements

The second Superbike race at Donington Park was just over as the main teams headed for the Misano circuit, where tests were scheduled this week for the next WSBK event.. Report and statements.

Misano WSBK 2016 test: driver statements

Aprilia n ° 15, Alex de Angelis:
"It was a good day, but only in the morning. After that it started to rain and we couldn’t accomplish everything we had planned. However, it helped us to be better prepared and therefore faster in Misano from Friday. We also have a better idea of what to do".

Aprilia n ° 32, Lorenzo Savadori:
"The test was affected by the rain, but we made good use of the morning. We still have to complete a few kilometers to make up for what we lost at the start of the season, as we ran out of pre-season tests. We tried a few tricks and collected some data to use during the race weekend in Misano".

Ducati n ° 7, Chaz Davies:
"After so many races, our last test seems to go back a long time! It was really positive to have two days to try things and ideas that can’t be tested during a race weekend. It’s a shame that the rain interrupted our test, but we found some good solutions for our basic settings which should allow us to progress further, and that is the most important thing. At this point in the season, everyone is able to pick up the pace pretty quickly, but these tests are clearly needed in order to be better prepared for the next race. The weekend in Misano had not been easy for us last year. Our goal is to catch up in two weeks".

Ducati n ° 34, Davide Giugliano:
"We were able to evaluate a few ideas, especially on electronics, which turned out to be quite good. It’s always important to go deeper into the basic settings, because during races we only focus on pure speed. I am convinced that we have taken a step in the right direction. I also tested the rear thumb brake: it gave me good feedback, although I clearly still have to adjust. We have been faster and faster in the last few races, so our next goal is to have a weekend without a drop in performance. The rain unfortunately forced us to close our shop earlier, but these two days were important and constructive in view of the round in Misano.".

Honda n ° 60, Michael van den Mark:
"I am really satisfied with this test. There were a lot of things that we usually can’t assess over a weekend just because of the lack of time. The results are good and I think we have found good direction. Too bad it rained in the afternoon, because we still had things to test. I am now looking forward to playing the next round in Misano and seeing the results of the work done today".

Honda # 69, Nicky Hayden:
"It was our first test since the start of the season and it has proven to be very useful. Misano being the next event on the calendar, we took the opportunity to prepare for this weekend. We were able to try a few things that we can’t usually test because the limitation to just one bike in WorldSBK makes it difficult to change. Unfortunately, it rained in the afternoon and work stopped at that point, despite some outings in the wet. I had hoped to learn more today and make more progress. However, we have found several things and I hope they will allow us to be better prepared for the second part of the season.".

Yamaha n ° 22, Alex Lowes:
"I remain frustrated because we still have a lot to try, but I’m not fit enough to go through them all. However, the job we did was good and I’m optimistic for the races. I want to send a huge thank you to the whole team for their hard work in making this test possible despite the busy schedule. I really appreciate !".

Yamaha n ° 50, Sylvain Guintoli Niccolo Canepa:
"I am really satisfied with this test. I tested a lot of things to further develop the bike and we got a lot of good feedback. Usually it’s not easy to switch from a Stock bike to a Superbike, but the YZF-R1 is very easy and I felt comfortable from the first lap. It’s a shame it started to rain in the afternoon, but it was good for the team to test in the wet as well. Hope the new improvements found here will help Lowes and Guintoli be quick for the next event in Misano".
