WSBK - Statements, videos and analyzes from the WSBK event in Misano - Statements from the first Superbike race

At the end of each World Superbike event, in addition to our reports of the Superbike and Supersport races, Site invites you to relive the weekend on video with the riders’ statements and the editorial staff’s analysis. !

Statements from the first Superbike race

Max Biaggi 1st: "I’m obviously happy to have won. Especially because I wasn’t expecting it and doing so well in Italy, in front of us supporters, is very special. The conditions are difficult because the grip is lacking. After only 5 to 6 laps it started to slip. After overtaking Troy, I attacked as much as possible because I saw that the times were still high, but I couldn’t get rid of him or Checa, the risk of making a mistake was too high.".

Carlos Checa 2nd: "I felt we had a good chance here, we worked really hard. The warmer temperatures meant that at the tire level the race would go differently for different riders, but we were the fastest throughout the race and it was a close battle against Max at the end, but I did. to settle for 2nd place. Of course, I’m happy to be on the podium, it’s amazing but I’m the youngest! After Miller we needed a race like this".

Troy Corser 3rd: "I got off to a good start again and got back in front of Max to take the lead. The track was very slippery compared to this morning, so we had to wait a few laps to feel the tire and pick up a good pace. I made a mistake and Max went ahead, I attacked a bit too much and lost my chances. It was still positive, because we managed to stay in front for a while".

Sylvain Guintoli (5th then) 6th: "The weekend has been pretty good for me and I feel like I’m becoming a better Superbike rider. The level of competition is so high that you have to be ready for each test, qualifying and races, which is not easy: it requires a lot of work, on my part and that of the team. It doesn’t mean we haven’t worked hard so far. It’s just that the WSBK is different from the BSB, I have to work differently. Today, I had better sensations with the bike in the 1st round and yet my times were better in the 2nd round! The good news is that today I had the pace to get on the podium and really enjoyed my races. Now I have to keep that feeling and be more competitive next time. It will be in Brno, a track that I know and like a lot, so I expect a lot from it".

Jonathan Rea 12th (then 13th): "No need to wonder how I feel after this weekend, what I feel could not be published anyway. It’s incredibly frustrating to be kept behind by this problem. (from "chattering", Editor’s note)whereas not so long ago we won together. We weren’t able to fix the issue this weekend and the results speak for themselves. We have to sort this out and hopefully the two test days (today and tomorrow in Imola, NDLR) we will allow it".

Chris Vermeulen (16th then) 15th: "It was a tough weekend and we were disappointed to miss the Superpole for the first time this season. We made small progress over the weekend and took a different direction for the second race which greatly improved the situation. I finished 12 seconds closer to the leading men compared to the 1st heat and we went for a softer rear tire which gave me more grip from the start. We still have a lot of work to do to improve the bike, but I’m looking forward to two days of riding Imola: these will be my first tests since the start of the season, so we can improve and be more competitive in the race.".
