Videos, statements and analysis of the SBK World Cup at the Nurburgring
At the end of each World Superbike event, in addition to our reports of the Superbike and Supersport races, Site invites you to relive the weekend on video with the riders’ statements and the editorial staff’s analysis. !
Statements from the second Superbike race
Noriyuki Haga, 1st: "I am very happy with this result and sorry for the first race. I fell in the first run because I couldn’t get a feel for the front tire. For the 2nd round, I just made a small modification on my front suspension and it worked much better. I was able to maintain a high pace up to the checkered flag. The next event is Imola, "our" track: I have a lot of pressure but I hope to do my best ".
Jonathan Rea, 2nd: "The pace was the same as the first race, but Nori was fantastic, he had an amazing race. It’s very frustrating when you see someone walk away from you like that. My team did a great job this weekend, 45 more points in the general classification: that’s the maximum we could get and I’m really very happy. I am now very consistent, and it frustrates me to see my mid-season results".
Leon Haslam, 3rd: "The first race was a little frustrating, my highside was all my fault and Troy had nowhere to go. Fortunately the race was interrupted. For the second race I only had one bike, but the guys did a great job and the "Clinica" did a fantastic job with my knee and thumb. Thanks to them. Getting on the podium isn’t exactly what I wanted, but we’ll take it. Anything can happen, there are still four races to go: it’s time for Imola ! "
Sylvain Guintoli, (8th then) 6th: "Well, I’m both happy and not happy. I’m happy to have qualified on the front row in qualifying and my good pace in the race. If Troy hadn’t pushed me on the first lap of race one, the end could have been quite different. When I got back on the track I felt like I was going as fast as the others and all in all I guess my 8th place is a pretty good result. I was mad at Troy because honestly I felt I could get on the podium. We changed the rear tire for the second race, but I didn’t have a good start and it gave me a lot of work to do from the start. It took me about half the race to get closer to Max (Biaggi) and spent the rest of the race trying to get past him. I could compete with him on the brakes and in the corners, but his bike was coming out of the corners much better and that’s where I was losing. I attacked as best I could, but he is a very experienced driver and he made no mistakes. It’s very unfortunate, because by the way I would have helped Leon and wanted to do it for him and the team".
Max Neukirchner, (DNF then) 15th: " You can imagine that I am not very happy. It’s very strange because yesterday I rode really well and went faster a lot easier: about a second and a half faster! Today it was just not possible to get into the corners and spin the bike and spin the wheel. The team looked at this on the data books and they confirm that there was double the glide compared to the day before. We didn’t change anything: we just put on new tires and off we went. Yesterday afternoon the bike was perfect and today it was completely different, 5 km / h slower and almost impossible to ride. I feel like a fool, especially for my home race and in front of a lot of my fans. It is shame for them. The settings we have now are not bad for me, not perfect, but not bad. It’s just that with tire changes, it is not possible to integrate the top 10".
