Yamaha celebrates Pirovano

Unique item sold at the WSBK in Estoril

The World Superbike Championship returned to Estoril on the weekend of October 17-18, 2020. The last World Superbike race in Portugal was won by Fabrizio Pirovano 27 years ago on a Yamaha YZF 750 SP. Yamaha thinks back to it with a unique R1.

F.abrizio Pirovano was the winner of the World Championship Superbike race on the Circuito Estoril in 1993. Since then, the Superbike World Championship circus has not been a guest on the course in Portugal. Til today.

Unique item will be auctioned

Yamaha used the Portugal comeback to commemorate Pirovano’s victory. Especially for this occasion, the Japanese have wrapped a current Yamaha YZF-R1 in the look of the Pirovano racing machine. The fairing is wrapped in white, purple and blue – like the Yamaha YZF 750 SP from Pirovano. The one-off also proudly displays its start number – 5. Yamaha does not provide any information on further technical changes.
