Discreetly, the 1200 Super Tenere evolved in 2014 with a little more fishing, reduced weight, enhanced driving pleasure, and an identity preserved in every way. Its legendary name has given it notoriety, but to face the competition, a more sophisticated version with high added content must complete the manufacturer’s offer..
With an E to complete the XTZ, the big Yam trail becomes more upscale by offering more equipment and above all a set of electronically adjustable suspensions. With this system very similar to that which equips the FJR 1300 AE and AS, the pilot can now make a suspension to the card with a boost. The Super-T thus joins the most technological trails that are the KTM Adventure, Ducati MTS, Aprilia Caponord and BMW R 1200 GS. Some still keep a little head start with semi-active suspicions.
A multifunction button on the handlebars, a control software, a few micromotors and the 1200 XTZE offers 4 preload settings and 3 for the damping force, i.e. 12 main options. You can then refine the setting on 7 levels. Finally, the Yamaha system results in 84 possible settings. Ciao screwdriver and wrench of 12.
Like the basic version, the Super Tenere is equipped with UBS coupled braking, disconnectable ABS, 3-level anti-skating, dual injection mapping (touring or Sport mode), a cruise control, the big twin brought to 112 horsepower and an irresistible urge to drive. To justify its premium positioning, this E version benefits from heated 3-position grips, an imitation suede saddle cover, top case support, large passenger handles, central stand and hand guards..
We can have fun by increasing the adventurous spirit with the Worldcrosser kit. Namely a series of equipment and a more protective profile almost allowing you to feel the sand.
On the Woldcrosser, the fairing sides are made of carbon, as is a set of protections for the frame and the lower fork. The rear brake, the chassis and the driveshaft gain protection plates in black anodized aluminum. A graphic kit underlines the more reckless inclination of the Worlcrosser. With this kit, the bill rises well above 17,000 euros. But to complete the panoply, a small detour via the options box will be necessary to add additional headlights and nipple tires; plus the Akrapovic pot.
