With the R7, Yamaha has developed a pure racing machine. Intended to replace the YZF 750 SP, this jewel of technology is approved for road use, while all you have to do is remove the flashing, retro and plate to make it ready to face the Superbike championship.. For a pharaonic price, you are entitled to an irreproachable Ohlins suspension set, a swingarm derived from that of the GP 500 machines, and a 4-cylinder racing with 2 injectors per cylinder that can spit up to 160 hp with the racing kit. . We can find it slightly lazy at low revs but that is of little importance: on the track, we only use the top of the tachometer, an area where its liveliness and power are demonic. Stability and handling are exemplary – the exclusivity of the machine also translates into positive performance and handling. Built in limited numbers, the R7 represents the pinnacle of turn-of-the-century sports car.
The performance kits of the R7 are certainly a bit expensive but allow this Superbike to reveal its full potential, for the modest sum of 275,000 F ( ± € 41,900).
