Ducati has its S versions; Yamaha will offer its M version. In Italy, many models have benefited from more prestigious versions. The standard R1 is now supported by the R1M, all dedicated to improving its dynamic performance.

With its big evolution 2015, the R1 intends to put the ideas in place to many competitors. The engine retains the cross-plane timing but now delivers 200 horsepower. The Deltabox frame is new, as are the swingarm, lightened rims, very distinctive M1 design and on-board digital technology. In this M version, we immediately distinguish a sign that does not deceive: the golden color of the suspensions.
The R1M is seen dubbed by Ohlins suspensions. But not just any: an ERS piloted version. Since the R1 is equipped with a 6-axis inertial sensor, it uses the data received to adjust the fork and shock absorber in real time. As the data is checked 125 times per second, the on-board control unit constantly knows what dynamic situation the bike is in and can thus determine the optimum compression and rebound for the suspensions. Then the servomotors act directly on the Swedish elements.

As an exclusive good tracker, the R1M is covered with a carbon trim (full fairing, front fender and seat cowl). Some parts are covered with a transparent film to clearly identify the nobility of the material, other parts are painted.
Another specificity is that the M’s tank is made of ultra-polished aluminum. Yamaha wanted to accentuate the contrast with the black frame by applying the same ultra-polished treatment to the swingarm..

As you can imagine, the R1M is not for everyone. Its equipment, its potential and its price will reserve it for experienced pilots. Moreover, to have it, it will have to be reserved and the distribution of the machine will be limited. Already ready to race, the R1M is originally fitted with a wider rear tire than on the R1, a 200. The tires chosen, almost slick, were specially designed by Bridgestone for this model..
It invites you to snap for a while, and have a lot of fun on the circuit. And she records everything you do. Once the session is over, you can connect with the on-board control unit, installed as standard on this M, to observe and analyze your race data, such as lap times, speed, throttle opening, GPS tracking, tilt angle, etc….

The owners of R1M will receive an invitation for the Yamaha Racing Experience: The YRE will take place on 4 main European racing circuits in July 2015. For a day and a half, participants will be able to meet prestigious guests and participate in driving sessions, accompanied high-level trainers. Yamaha technicians will also be on site to offer preparation advice for professional competitions..

With this R1M, the trackers will have something to have fun. The bleeding ones will regret not having a small dose of extra horses, just to mark the exclusive side even more. And we wonder why this version with top suspensions and a carbon trim weighs a kilo more than the standard R1 ?!?
Let us be demanding and realize: what do we have in these 200 kilos? An almost track wheel, driven Ohlins, 200 horsepower, titanium connecting rods, a shifter, traction control assisted by rear tire slip control, an anti-wheeling, a starting assistance mode, an ABS integral, 4 maps and 4 driving modes, a full digital dashboard with two types of display (road or track), telemetry and race tires. To wonder if it is the pilot who wants the R1 or the other way around ?!?
