Difficult to progress for a machine which has already reached very high heights and pushed back the standards for several years in a row. However, it was necessary to react well to a formidable GSX-R 600 and to counter the disturbing arrival of the ZX-6RR 2005. In turn, Yamaha presents the 2005 evolution of its fighter in 600 cm3. After the 600 Ninja and the CBR 600 RR, it is therefore the R6’s turn to unveil its little face to the general public. And there, surprise: the changes are … minimal. Apart from the colors and the decoration, it is almost impossible to differentiate the YZF 2005 from the 2003 version.
It is on the mechanical side and on the chassis that the engineers have worked on. The most striking element on this evolution is the new front axle of the tracker. Like any current sports car, it is equipped with an inverted fork and radial fixing brake calipers. The discs are bigger and go from 298 to 310 mm. Controlled by a radial master cylinder (too), no doubt that the braking will always be as impressive on this fabulous machine. There is also a new rear suspension linkage as well as a new front tire profile..
On all generations of R6 there were horses. And like chocolate, we always want more. The news is no exception to the rule and spits 3 more hp or 126 at the same speed of 13,000 rpm. More than a search for maximum power, engine manufacturers have inflated the power curve in order to offer more watts over the entire rev range and not just at the top of the tachometer. To do this, the Yam gains a new injection map, re-designed intake ducts and new camshafts..
For fans of Valentino ROSSI, know that his time at Yamaha already leaves a sacred mark. The new R6 will be available in a typical VALE color (2,500 copies for Europe) which will be nothing more than a Replica.
