For a manufacturer, a model as important and emblematic as the Fazer must be pampered, handled with care, and when it comes to retouching it, Yam has only chosen 2 solutions in the past: either a complete change, or very fine retouching. 3 years ago it was a brand new model; this year, it’s a small evolution aimed at preserving the essential and subtly modifying certain aspects.
Evolution code: S2. an additional appendix with the name Fazer to identify this relifting of the 2nd generation. Do not search the side of the frame or the engine to look for the differences, it is around that it happens. The FZ6 S2 changes its face slightly, with a re-designed fork crown with raised sides (they no longer cover the top of the radiator), a different bubble, new monobloc brake calipers (it looks like those of the R1 before that the one it does not pass radial braking), a new fender, and some elements that deserve a little more attention. The new saddle, better designed, with a different coating and foam should improve comfort on board.
In the fork crown, the information also changes. The old all-round counter block, with a not super readable tachometer, is replaced by the instrumentation of the FZ1.
Yamaha seems to have listened to the criticism of the passenger footrests. These are no longer welded to the rear frame but conventionally fixed by a set of screws. Much more practical and easier in case of breakage. For the well-being of the passenger, they are located lower and lined with rubber.
Main chassis modification: the swingarm. More flattering in appearance, this new arm has a hexagonal section, in cast and extruded aluminum, with the mission of optimizing rigidity and agility.
Engine level, no change for the block of the R6 but a revised injection map as well as a new exhaust line with new internal components.
This 2007 version of the FZ6 Fazer does not replace the 2006 Fazer. The latter will continue its career alongside the S2 but deflated in power (78 hp). Some way to have a nice all-rounder roadster and a more muscular version in the same lineup.
