The industrial group Polaris and the electric motorcycle manufacturer Zero have signed an exclusive partnership that has been in place for over ten years, under which electric drives for off-road vehicles and snowmobiles are to be jointly developed.

The first Polaris model with an electric drive from this cooperation is due to hit the market at the end of 2021. Polaris intends to offer customers at least one model with all-electric drive in each of its core segments by 2025. For this purpose, the zero electric drive components are to be adapted for use in the Polaris models.

No e-motorcycles planned yet

In the off-road sector, Polaris is represented with quads and so-called side-by-side models with two and three seats. The company is one of the market leaders in snowmobiles. Polaris is also the parent company of the motorcycle manufacturer Indian. Indian himself has already had the model name eFTR protected. Currently the Children’s motorcycle Indian eFTR Jr. presented with electric drive. But even the Americans should not be able to avoid an electrically powered motorcycle in the long term. Competitor Harley-Davidson has already done it with LiveWire.
