When KTM returned to the 125 roadster sector, it ended with the great success of its mini Duke. Aggressive look, cool mono, strong Katoche identity, everything is there to ensure success among djeun’s bikers. Now, the Austrian brand is going to make fun with young wolves who love sports and racy machines. For them, we take the same base and qualities of the 125 Duke and we transform it into RC 125. Attention, bloodshot and racing smell in sight.
Sharp, nervous, angular, the fairing of the RC 125 is faithful to the KTM spirit: an assembly of aggregates cut with large billhooks. Intriguing, without being as enigmatic as that of the RC8-R. Of course, as Katoche knows how to be noticed, certain details hold the attention, like the bubble whose plexiglass goes down and spreads out on the sides of the fork crown, the indicators (not very beautiful) hung on the branches of the mirrors, the passenger seat fully integrated in trompe-l’oeil, the strange lenticular look … No doubt, the RC 125 will stand out in the band of sporty 125s.
Under the garment, the technique is very similar or even identical to that of the 125 Duke. It must be said that the little roadster is very successful. The single cylinder is renewed, with its 15 horses, its sporty temperament, surprising flexibility and undeniable qualities.
The tubular steel trellis frame is also taken from the Duke. Katoche however took care to modify it to adapt to a more typical use. The caster angle is increased to 66.5 °, the wheelbase is reduced and the ground clearance increased. What to reveal all its potential. The fork is an inverted 43 mm model, which KTM does not hesitate to compare with that of the RC8-R (all things considered). We will continue to show off and be satisfied with the equipment with the 17-inch forged light alloy wheels – 110 at the front and 150 at the rear -, the perforated triple tree, full digital instrumentation, serious braking. composed of a set developed by Brembo, even if it is not marked on it, and a disconnectable ABS. For the RC 125, the equipment chosen is a 300 mm disc clamped by a radial piston caliper. Enough to stop the 135 kilos of the machine in a fraction of the track.
After having packed the sector with its 125 Duke, KTM is putting the cover back into the small sports segment. The RC 125 will whet the appetite of young athletes, and at the same time draw the eye to its sisters RC 200 and RC 390. The Honda CBR 125, Yamaha YZF-R 125 and Aprilia RS4 can start to be worried: voila among them a stirrer with the scent “Ready to Race”..
