2015 Honda CTX 700

Transforming the NC 700 into a bagger, the idea may seem incongruous. And yet, this is indeed the niche of this new CTX 700. Add to it the optional pair of suitcases, painted in body color and perfectly integrated into the line, and you get a real F6B in miniature.

A touring variant of the CTX concept, this custom borrows the chassis and mechanics from the NC 700 S / X duo. A 41 mm fork, one brake disc per wheel, optional ABS, a simple but efficient chassis, an economical parallel twin-cylinder, here are the essentials. The tubular steel frame is only partially retouched to conform to the silhouette and pretensions of this odd-looking machine. There is DN-01 in this pencil stroke, and a tad of Goldwing to refine the line. A massive fork crown providing protection and aplomb as well as a pair of passenger grips distinguish this CTX 700 from its N version brother. One for traveling, the other for cruising..

With a large windshield, small passenger backrest and valos, this CTX becomes a real small-displacement Tourer. It will be necessary to compose with a modest power, the twin of 670 cm3 delivering only about fifty horses. Not a thunderbolt, of course, but this is generally the level of watts that we find in mid-size customs. The mechanics count on certain very specific assets. A very soft consumption, a strong inclination of the cylinders and a positioning favoring a very low center of gravity, and the possibility of receiving the DCT robotic gearbox. A custom with a semi-automatic double clutch gearbox is exceptional. Too bad that the transmission is entrusted to a chain; a belt is customary in this category.

With an ultra low seat, a cool riding driving position and a trunk in place of the tank, the CTX 700 proudly claims to defend its slogan and justify its name: Comfort Technology eXperience. This new idea of custom will not fail to fuel suspicions. Honda has chosen to market this intriguing custom only in DCT version. The French tariff is far from being as accessible as that across the Atlantic. Okay, the difference is partly due to taxes … The CTX 700 here is equipped with the robotic box and suitcases … But almost 9,000 euros, it takes you the wrong way.
