24 Heures Motos - A 100% female technical team for the 24 Heures Moto du Mans! - Used TRIUMPH

A 100% female technical team to compete in the 30th edition of the 24 Heures Moto du Mans on April 21 and 22, 2007: this is the bet that Team ATS Peace and Run will try to achieve in a spirit close to the 1970s. Flower (Full) Power !

For Team ATS Peace and Run, which is entering the next 24 Heures Moto du Mans on April 21 and 22, riding a Daytona 675, the objective is twofold: first, "distinguish the team by a 100% female technical staff", then"to be classified well by playing the regularity with a homogeneous crew and a light motorcycle".

An attractive and original initiative actively supported by the Parisian dealer ATS Triumph, which will notably result in "a "70s" atmosphere in the stand"and by choosing a motorcycle"100% European, 3-cylinder and medium displacement": the Triumph Daytona 675 on loan from ATS, on which Jean-Pierre Bondu, Cyril Guillemin and Fabrice Miguet will take turns (see below).

World premiere

"Initially the idea came from Fabrice Miguet", explains to Site Jean-Pierre Bondu, commercial at HP in the civil:"Since the return from the Moto Tour in October, he kept calling me and little by little, we had the idea of setting up a 100% female technical team for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a world first !"

In order to support this initiative, a "Flower Power Pack" has been developed which allows, for the modest sum of 30 euros, to receive by email the different stages of the project, the reports of the tests and the race, without forgetting the test results by SMS as well as the film and photos of the event on DVD !

"Please note, this is an original team and a first experience, but above all we want to do things well", specifies Jean-Pierre:"the staff is made up only of women, but they are first and foremost professionals who all come from the world of motorcycles or racing".

The roaring 70’s

We will therefore find Fabienne Degura in particular as team manager (driver then stand manager in the Peugeot 206 Cup for cars from the Peugeot Poissy factory), Veronique Cassia as chief mechanic (mechanic for Bertrand Sebileau in the Roadster Cup and Marc Granie in the Tourist Trophy and Moto Tour), six timekeepers, a cook, a refueling machine, a "fireman, a hostess in charge of welcoming VIPs, etc..

Without forgetting of course the three pilots, who will have the heavy task of qualifying the splendid Daytona 675: "we will have to shoot at the same time as the Japanese 1000, below 48", estimates Jean-Pierre, who is still trying to make ends meet with his tire budget … Friends readers of Michelin, Bridge, Pirelli and others: to your keyboards !

"Me, I do not worry about 1000 Japanese! Either way it’s gonna rain", reassures Benjamin Barthot of ATS Triumph who has already started the rain dance…

The team has already signed with Delcamp for the suspensions and Sebring for the pots. "We have the fairings and the brake pads and a friend lends us the Zenith valves", specifies Cyril Guillemin. Another interesting innovation to note: the three pilots will ride with airbag vests from the company Protairbag (read), also a team partner..

Dare to undertake

"We left on the theme of the 70s although we are all three too young to have lived them (the three pilots were born between 1963 and 1970, editor’s note), because at that time we were not afraid to move forward or to be protesting", adds Jean-Pierre:"we dared to undertake, we dared to move forward without asking questions, we had momentum and energy"…

Let us therefore salute as it should be this original and interesting initiative – to be followed naturally on Site – which changes a little of the sinistrose and the "grumble" too often put in the world of the motorcycle…
