Dourdou rally: the Toniutti roundup !

One level of the Eiffel Tower above the other competitors, Julien Toniutti left them nothing but crumbs and won the race by largely winning all the stages. Meanwhile, Bruno Schiltz takes the lead over Velardi for the championship… Story.

On the side of the contenders for the title of French rally champion 2017, the game is tight: neither Bruno Schiltz (KTM 1290 Suerduke R CTM83) nor Christophe Velardi (Ducati 1200 Multistrada Ducati West Europe) are allowed to make mistakes, each having already used their respective jokers (the four worst stage results which will be deducted from the final count after the last stage of the last championship event…

Now every point is important and there is still a lot to play in the categories. It’s hot in rallying this year !

No less than 128 competitors will line up (one after the other every 30 seconds, not all at the same time because the Aveyron roads are not wide enough!) At the start of the first stage of this Rallye du Dourdou 2017.

The course is very complex, close to that of the last one with a prologue loop for a dry run in the specials, followed by six different Villecomtal-Villecomtal rally loops, which will require the greatest attention to the indications in the road book at every road intersection…

Each loop has two specials (Golinhac and Mouret), making a total of twelve specials for this Dourdou rally.

Night (Friday 21)

  • Prologue start: 9.15 p.m. (loop of about 45 km)
  • Start of the first loop: 10:18 p.m. (loop of about 60 km)
  • Start of the second loop: 11:46 p.m. (loop of about 65 km)
  • Last motorbike arrival: 02:03 am Saturday

Day (Saturday 22)

  • Start of the first loop: 10:00 am (approximately 70 km loop)
  • Second loop start: 11:48 am (loop of about 75 km)
  • Start of the third loop: 13:36 (loop of about 70 km)
  • Fourth loop start: 3:19 p.m. (loop of about 68 km)
  • Arrival last motorbike: 5:57 p.m.

With more than three and a half hours of motorcycling in the night stage and more than seven hours for the day on Saturday, after a few meager hours of sleep, it’s still "a good ride" for the weekend! Clearly, road rally is really THE motorcycle discipline: even over 24 hours of endurance, pilots spend less time than rallymen on their machines. !
