BMW has to recall 17,604 BMW C 400 X and BMW C 400 GT scooters to the workshops worldwide. The throttle cable may freeze on the large scooters.

On the scooter models affected by the recall, water can collect in the gas cable covers after driving in the rain or after intensive vehicle cleaning and no longer drain. When driving at outside temperatures below freezing point, the throttle cables can become stiff and freeze completely.

New trains for the scooters

The recall affects 17,604 scooters worldwide, including 1,532 vehicles in Germany, from the construction period from March 2018 to January 2020. When visiting the workshop, the trains installed are cleaned and technically upgraded. As a final measure, BMW is planning to replace all affected Bowden cables with an optimized technical standard in the course of 2020.

BMW estimates the length of the workshop visit to be around 45 minutes. The recall began in February 2020.
