The recall currently reported by the US traffic safety authority NHTSA is an extension of a recall from December 2013. Even then, BMW had to recall 50,184 machines because of the same problem. In 2013, R models from the construction period 2005 to 2011, K models from the construction period 2005 to 2012, S 1000 models from the construction period 2010 to 2011 and HP2 models from the construction period 2006 to 2010 were affected. A connection flange on the built-in fuel pumps can break and gasoline can escape. In the worst case, a fire can occur.

Machines have to go back again

In the recall launched in August 2020, the models K 1300 S and GT from the construction period 2009 to 2011, S 1000 RR from the construction period 2010 to 2011, R1200 (GS, GS Adventure, R, RT, S, ST) from the Construction period 2005 to 2011, HP2 (Enduro, Megamoto, Sport) from construction period 2006 to 2010, K1200 (R, R Sport, S, GT) from construction period 2005 to 2008 and K1600 GT and GTL from construction year 2012 recalled. At the time, an additional metal support ring was mounted on the fuel pump flange of these vehicles, but the fuel pump was not replaced in sequence. A total of 16,926 machines have to move into the workshops for the second time.

The request to BMW as to whether machines in Germany / Europe are also affected by the recent recall is already underway.
