The American traffic safety authority NHTSA has a recall for 659 motorcycles of the electric motorcycle manufacturer in the USA zero initiated.

Cruise control and brake light affected

On machines of the type Zero SR / S and Zero SR / F, moisture can penetrate the brake light switch of the front brake and thus impair its function. If the switch fails, the following traffic is not warned of a braking maneuver. In addition, the cruise control is no longer switched off when the brake is actuated. In both cases, dangerous traffic situations can arise. The brake function itself is not influenced by the switch defect.

The brake light switches on the machines affected by the recall from the construction period February 2019 to June 2020 are inadequately sealed. Zero offers all owners of affected machines to the workshop. A new brake light switch is then installed there.

It is not yet known whether machines in Germany or Europe are also affected by this possible defect.
