The cheeky Italian from Aprili doesn’t let her rider shiver, although the 750 cubic and nominal 95 horses of the Shiver 750 are already a strong announcement in the middle class.

Trembling, shuddering, that literally means the model name Shiver. Driving the lively two-cylinder engine is anything but a tremendous game. Playfully circles them Aprilia through curves, follows every steering impulse precisely, even on very poor road surfaces the motorcycle remains confident and gives a very direct feel for the road. Excellent! And that despite the combination of a comparatively wide 6.0 inch rim (from 2010 model only 5.5 inches) at the rear and a 180 mm slipper. Impressive, after all, we are “only” in the middle class. 95 hp, three quarters of a liter – key data with which one does not need to fear monsters such as those from Bologna. However, the MOTORRAD test bench certified a maximum of 88 real horses of the nominal performance, whereby an exemplary running culture ensures that excellent driving performance can actually be called up. Experts, i.e. more sporty country road pilots, have great fun with this Aprilia, especially since you can choose between sport and touring mapping electronically and at the push of a button on the handlebars.

In the sport setting she goes hard on the gas, subjectively appears stronger and more aggressive. The brakes with 320 discs are also really strong and toxic, but the optionally available ABS does not regulate until late. Attention imports! Technically, these machines do not differ, but in a warranty case it can lead to stress. In the case of the imported models, which are sent directly from Italy to some German dealers (in the case of overproduction, cheap purchase prices are attractive), the necessary service updates are not infrequently missing (for Example new mapping). Ordinary Aprilia workshops, on the other hand, receive the relevant information from the German importer. And understandably, authorized dealers do not want to carry out free service work for vehicles without a German guarantee. In general, however, the Shiver is not a problem child, special weak points or major defects are so far unknown. However, there are only a few specimens with more than 50,000 kilometers. If the tires and wearing parts are okay, and if the price is right, then you can confidently strike after the test drive.

Market situation
Many Aprilia dealers mainly sell scooters. Allegedly, these dealers react more nervously to longer idle times than pure motorcycle specialists. Be that as it may, there are an astonishing number of Shivers (partly imports) with zero mileage on internet marketplaces – at bargain prices. New vehicles with ABS are offered for as little as 6,000 euros (list price over 8,000 euros!), Probably for fear of having caught a slow-moving goods. This makes it almost impossible for private providers to even get rid of their used vehicles above 5000 euros. However, the comparatively young Aprilia is not a low-budget snapper either, only a few offers can be made out for less than 4000 euros. Anything under 5000 euros is interesting as a second-hand Shiver. Especially if the location is not too far away, because a test drive is definitely sales-promoting.
