So far, DAB Motors has relied on minimalist bikes that the customer can largely configure from a wide range of options. A single-cylinder four-stroke single with 500 cubic meters from Husqvarna usually serves as the drive source. The new design turns the concept upside down: Future street bike with electric motor for the 125cc class.

Well-known concept, new drive

Even if the makers behind DAB have only adopted little-known features of the four-stroke models for the Concept-E, the design can be located directly at DAB. With the move away from the clear scrambler or supermoto style towards a stylish mix of scrambler, naked bike and supermoto, DAB pays tribute to the designers at Kiska, and refrains from covering the elements. A 10 kW motor, mounted near the pivot points of the swing arm, serves as the drive, with direct drive of the rear wheel via toothed belt. That indicates a high torque and impressive accelerations. The motor is fed by a lithium-ion battery with a 4.7 kWh capacity. DAB does not specify ranges or maximum speeds.

Exclusive electro

With an output of 10 kilowatts, the engine is clearly in the 125 class, but the rest of the DAB equipment reads as an enormously expensive who’s who of the supplier scene. The Ohlins chassis was specially developed for the Concept-E, Beringer brakes and Excel supplies the rims. The frame and swing arm are mostly covered with carbon covers. The rear light is elaborately designed and manufactured. The cockpit is a small delicacy: it sits behind the Fatbar handlebar and is not directly visible to the driver. The information can only be read when it is reflected in the glossy tank cover.

Price unknown

As with specific technical data, DAB is also holding back with the price of the electric motorcycle. Since the combustion models with the 500 single already cost at least 17,000 euros and the add-on parts of the e-bike go one step further, the Concept-E won’t cost less.

How do you feel about the electric motorcycle??

Out of the question for me.

The future of the two-wheeler for urban traffic.

There is no getting around the electric motorcycle.

Conclusion

DAB shows Elektro in enormously beautiful with the Concept-E. Placed in the 125cc class and equipped with noble parts, the good piece is unlikely to park in front of very few vocational schools, more at the hot spots for surfers on the French Atlantic coast at the Aperol gas station. From a purely technical point of view, the DAB seems solid and not very innovative, only in combination with design and details is a well-rounded thing put on the wheels. Price: open, but should be high.
