Energica EMCE electric motor
Much lighter and much stronger
The Italian electric motorcycle manufacturer Energica has presented a new electric motor for its machines. It offers almost 26 hp more power and weighs ten kilograms less.

So far sets Energica uses a 107 kW and 215 Nm electric motor as a standard motor in its models. Now comes a new, more powerful engine.
That was actually only planned for 2022. However, since the Energica supply chain has been severely weakened by the corona pandemic, the Italians have strongly brought its debut forward. The new electric motor was developed together with the specialists from Mavel. The drive, named EMCE, is to be installed in all current Energica models. By the way, EMCE stands for Energica Mavel Co-Engineering.
Over 170 hp
Thanks to the new EMCE motor, the peak output increases to 126 kW at 8,500 rpm and thanks to the new liquid cooling, the higher output should also be available over a longer period of time. Up until now, the Energica engines were oil-cooled. In addition, the new engine is ten kilograms lighter. This lower weight should be reflected in a range that is five to ten percent higher.
The new EMCE engine is manufactured in Italy, which shortens delivery routes and guarantees better availability. First of all, the new engine will be installed in the motorcycles for the European and North American markets. The markets in Asia will be served later.
