In 2018, Honda returned the Monkey to the European model range. For the model year 2022 there is a Euro 5 update for the cult 125 with a new engine and improved chassis.

The Honda Monkey is a really big one among the very little ones – at least in terms of their cult status. The facelift of the 125 for model year 2022 provides further food for cult building.

For the 2022 model year, the Monkey will receive an engine upgrade, a new five-speed gearbox, a refined chassis set-up, a brand new color and improved equipment with a luggage rack.

New engine with 5 gears

The still air-cooled 124 cm3 two-valve engine is derived from the MSX Grom, offers 50 mm bore, 63.1 mm stroke and a compression of 10: 0: 1. This gives it a peak output of 9.5 hp at 6,750 tours and a maximum torque of 11 Nm, which hits the crankshaft at 5,500 rpm. A new inlet area in conjunction with a new catalytic converter in the new exhaust ensures Euro 5 compatibility. The new Grom engine also comes with an upgrade from four to five gears. The top speed is now 91 km / h.

Firmer chassis

New shock absorbers on the rear wheel, which are equipped with double spring assemblies and revised rubber dampers, ensure a more streamlined chassis set-up. The spring travel is 192 mm. The extended equipment of the Monkey for the 2022 model year includes a new and practical tubular luggage rack with a load capacity of 3 kg as standard. As in earlier times, beautiful Honda wing logos adorn the 5.6 liter tank, the paint color of which can also be found on the frame, swing arm and damper springs.

The Honda Monkey 125 of the year 2022 is available as before in the colors Banana Yellow and Pearl Nebula Red and now in Pearl Glittering Blue. Honda has not yet given any prices. So far, the Monkey was on the price list at around 4,200 euros.
