Honda patent: driver thinks, machine steers
Honda patent
The driver thinks, the machine steers
In a recent Honda patent specification, the Japanese rely on the power of thought to control the motorcycle.

We know neural networking from countless science fiction films. The protagonist thinks and the machine implements. At Honda, too, people seem to think about how the rider could control their motorcycle with their thoughts. At least such a technical vision suggests a patent by the American R&D department of the Japanese.
I think about wheelie …
Honda
The basis of the consideration is a human-machine interface. The Japanese place the interface in the helmet when they think about it. The sensors there, so to speak, pick up the stream of thoughts and forward them to a central computer. It interprets these thoughts and sends corresponding signals to the on-board electronics. For example, the vehicle dynamics control systems or the by-wire control of the engine are addressed. The machine then supports the driver’s wishes within the framework of the technical possibilities.
The patent explicitly mentions driving maneuvers such as wheelies, stoppies, overtaking, burnout, sliding, accelerating or braking. Evasive maneuvers should also be possible in this way. The motorcycle would have to be equipped with a steering angle detection and an active steering intervention be equipped. Of course, functions such as a hands-free system or navigation should also be able to be controlled with it. But first and foremost, Honda should have the aspect of increased driving safety in mind.
The implementation of a corresponding human-machine interface is likely to be years or decades away. Still, it is interesting to see what motorcycle manufacturers are thinking about.

What do you think of assistance systems on motorcycles??

Anything that increases security is welcome.
They haven’t lost anything on the motorcycle.
Conclusion
Thought control for the motorcycle – sounds totally aloof and will probably not become reality anytime soon. The question of the acceptance of such a technology in the target group also remains.
