In the 2020 model year, Husqvarna will mostly be starting with well-known bikes such as the Vit and Svartpilen models, which have been slightly redesigned. An overview of the bikes on offer including the current prices.

At first glance, Husqvarna’s 2020 model range doesn’t really differ from the bikes offered in 2019. And the differences are actually hidden in the details. Some models are available in new colors. In addition, the 2020 Svart and Vitpilen models will take to the streets on spoked wheels. The 701 Enduro will also be available in a long-range version in 2020. The 701 Supermoto also receives some electronics updates. At EICMA 2019, Husqvarna also presented a concept bike called the Norden 901 (pictured above), which will add a travel enduro to the Husqvarna model range. The KTM subsidiary has not yet revealed when exactly the new Norden will come as a series bike.

The modular system immediately catches the eye on the photos of the Svartpilen and Vitpilen. But if you climb into the saddle of the duo, you will experience different motorcycles. At Vitpilen, the handlebars stretch the pilot over the tank, conveying the feeling of the cafe racer scene of the sixties to the young target group. Not only because at that time the girlfriend was usually allowed to go on a brisk ride, the pillion rider on the Vitpilen – and the Svartpilen – is still happy about the 40 millimeter longer bench seat.

Even experts only recognize at second glance that this scrambler was once a KTM 390 Duke. You can even say: it still is. The frame, swing arm, spring elements, brakes and motor come unchanged from the orange bonsai fun bike. The unorthodox design of the tank-seat unit and the minimalist frame rear cover this as well. While the little Duke is celebrating sales records, the extravagant Svartpilen is still noticeably quiet even in the third model year.

That’s her, the chart topper. Or to put it soberly: The Vitpilen 701 is the best-selling of the road model range from Husqvarna, even sold better than the Enduro 701. The comparison is not lacking, because despite the conceptual difference, the Vitpilen at least shares the engine with the said studded bike, while the chassis with retouching (shorter wheelbase, steeper steering head angle) comes from the KTM Duke. And: The new colors and the spoked wheels look pretty good on the Vitpilen.

You won’t find a word in any of the brochures about the Husqvarna model range: KTM. But like all other huskies, the 701 Svartpilen also rolls off the assembly lines of the parent company in Mattighofen. And as with its smaller-capacity sisters, despite the Swedish name (in German: black arrow), Austrian technology is used without exception. With the 693 cc single cylinder from the KTM Duke, the Swedish exile is definitely well equipped. 75 HP top performance, lively performance and – thanks to two balancer shafts – an astonishingly good running culture will catapult the dirt tracker past the audience in front of the ice cream parlor faster than many owners would like. It would be a shame, because in the 2020 model year both the Svart and Vitpilen will be rolling on spoked instead of cast wheels, which fit very harmoniously into the – still controversial – overall visual concept. But who knows: Perhaps the end of the 690 Duke can give the moderately popular 701 line some tailwind.

This is how it is with only children: When a sibling joins them, they usually play second fiddle. The 701 supermoto also experienced this last year. The comeback of the KTM 690 SMC R noticeably affected the sales figures of the Husky. But now the neglected 701 also receives the electronics (cornering ABS, quickshifter, traction control, driving modes) with which the KTM booted out its sister. So you can argue at eye level again – just like in real family life.

When looking for more independence for the huskies compared to the orange sisters, the model planners in the white and yellow dress are quite creative. The latest differentiator is the long-range variant of the 701 enduro. A 12 liter front tank increases the 13 liters of fuel stored in the rear frame to an impressive 25 liters. So the husky driver can look forward to other new goodies such as quickshifter, traction control and cornering ABS without annoying refueling stops.
