Markus Reiterberger has already been confirmed as this year’s champion of the IDM Superbike 1000. That doesn’t seem to be a reason to rest on your laurels, however. The German BMW driver already demonstrated this impressively in the first free practice session in Oschersleben.

With a 1: 25.724 Reiterberger was almost a second faster than the second placed Jan Buhn. Third place went to Yamaha rider Florian Alt with a 1: 27.234. Followed by Danny de Boer, Bastien Mackels and Dominic Vincon. Lucy Glockner landed on position 9 with her Kawasaki, ahead of Marco Nekvasil (BMW), Jan Halbich (Honda) and Luca Grunwald (Suzuki).

2nd free practice (September 1st, 2:55 pm to 3:25 pm)

Markus Reiterberger burned the best time into the asphalt in the 2nd free practice as well, but remained below his record from the 1st free practice. In the first session, Reiti’s stopwatch stopped at 1: 25.724. In the second run, Reiterberger was almost 0.2 seconds slower.

Behind this there was a change of position: Florian Alt, who had finished third in the first practice session, improved to position 2. In the second free practice session Jan Buhn took third place in the second practice session. Honda driver Jan Halbich was fourth, ahead of Danny de Boer (BMW), Bastien Mackels (Yamaha) and Stephan Kerschbaumer (Yamaha). The top 10 is completed by Lucy Glockner (Kawasaki), Dominik Vincon (BMW) and Marc Neumann (BMW).

1st qualifying (2.9., 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.)

Markus Reiterberger secured the fastest time in the first qualifying in Oschersleben. The BMW driver lapped the course in 1: 25.482. The second fastest lap was achieved by Danny de Boer (BMW), ahead of Jan Buhn (BMW), Stefan Kerschbaumer (Yamaha) and Florian Alt (Yamaha). Bastien Mackels (Yamaha), Dominik Vincon (BMW), Jan Halbich (Honda), Bobby Bos (Yamaha) and Lucy Glockner (Kawasaki) finished in the following places.

2nd qualifying (2.9., 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.)

The second qualifying threw the Superbike 1000 top over again. The first four starting positions are now occupied by BMW. The already established champion Markus Reiterberger was satisfied with a time of 1: 24.890 min after four laps and put the S1000 RR back in the pits. There was also no need for further action. With the time presented, “Reiti” was once again in a class of its own and the pole position was cleared. Jan Buhn kept his second place on the grid. Danny de Boer takes the last place in the front row and Dominik Vincon opens the second.

With Stefan Kerschbaumer, a private Yamaha company did better than the factory-supported MGM team. Honda driver Jan Halbich, who crashed right at the beginning of the second qualifying and didn’t put a single time on paper, will start the race in ninth place. His time from first qualifying was enough to make it into the top ten. Dominic Schmitter had the fastest Suzuki under his bum.

There was confusion at Kawasaki: Lucy Glockner had fallen, dared a new attempt, but fell again on the start and finish straight. Because the motorcycle was in the safety area, the training was ended prematurely. At this point, some drivers were on the track with qualifier tires, whose potential ultimately remained untapped. In contrast to the rest of the process, the first IDM Superbike 1000 race will start this Saturday. Start: 4:35 p.m. (Anke Wieczorek)

1st race (September 2nd, 4:35 pm)

That has never happened before: a triple podium for the Van Zon Remeha BMW team. Markus Reiterberger, Jan Buhn and Danny de Boer celebrated their triumph in the same box. As expected, there was no herb against Reiti. He drove around six tenths faster than the rest on the S1000 RR. Thanks to the 20 championship points he scored, Buhn took second place in the overall standings and ousted the best Yamaha rider Florian Alt from that position.

What was really spectacular, however, was de Boer’s effort, which no one had believed in, because the Dutchman had only survived Pfeiffer’s glandular fever and was only just on his feet again. Jan Halbich got along brilliantly on the Honda in the Motorsport Arena, even though he had less training time than the competition. Electronics problems had thwarted his plans. In the second qualifying he did not have a single timed lap on the list of results. Suzuki had a hot iron at the start with Luca Grunwald. Having started from 14th position in the start, the Waldkraiburger moved up six places in the first lap.

Lucy Glockner made up three places. In the end, the Kawasaki rider wanted to attack Bastien Mackels on the Yamaha, but in the end she narrowly missed the jump into the top ten and Mackels took tenth place ahead of her. The second IDM Superbike 1000 race will take place tomorrow, Sunday at 3:50 p.m. and will again cover 18 laps. (Anke Wieczorek)

2nd race (3.9., 3:50 p.m.)

It was the longest race of the day with 18 laps over 3.667 kilometers. Florian Alt broke through the BMW armada at the top and made sure that a Yamaha rider was on the podium in the end. At first everything looked like a triple triumph for the Van Zon Remeha BMW team: Markus Reiterberger at the top, team mates Danny de Boer and Jan Buhn in tow. But old was almost stuck in the exhaust of Buhn’s BMW for a long time. Then in the tenth round he nailed his head and passed by.

In the second half of the race, when the tires slowly deteriorate, Lucy Glockner’s big time had come again. Experience shows that the Kawasaki Lady is then really in top form. But it didn’t really work out this time. Arriving in the top ten, Arnaud Friedrich (BMW) pushed the only lady in the field to eleventh place on the last lap. Jan Halbich rushed past Bastien Mackels (Yamaha) on the Honda on the last lap. Dominic Schmitter once again proved to be the best Suzuki driver. (Anke Wieczorek)
