Assistance systems known from automotive engineering are also finding their way more and more into motorcycles. Bosch has already worked with various manufacturers radar-based surveillance system developed with appropriate warning functions. Now another comes from Israel. The Ride Vision system is based on a combination of image recognition technology and artificial intelligence. The hardware includes two wide-angle cameras on the front and rear of the vehicle, LED warning displays on the rear-view mirrors and a central processing unit with the patented algorithms from Ride Vision.

Based on the 360-degree monitoring, the driver is warned of possible head-on collisions, too little distance to the vehicle in front or objects in the blind spot. Ride Vision can be installed in any type of two-wheeler, regardless of the motorcycle model or motorcycle manufacturer. The warning system connects to the driver’s smartphone via a special app.
The Ride Vision app also records journeys and enables the journey data to be evaluated at a later date. All data is only saved locally on the smartphone, but can also be exported. The system has an open design and can be updated with additional functions such as a rear collision warning or emergency call scenarios. The cameras can also be used to record exits as video.
Market launch in 2021
Ride Vision’s collision warning system is expected to be available in several European countries including Germany, Italy, Austria, Spain, France, Greece and the UK from early 2021. The markets in Israel, the USA, Brazil, Canada, Australia, Japan, India and China follow later.
How broad this security offensive is can be seen from the composition of the Ride Vision Advisory Board. There you will find, among others, Continental assistance system developer Christian Weber, EX-BMW motorcycle boss Viktor Schaller and Energica boss Livia Cevolini.

What do you think of assistance systems on motorcycles??
Voted 1292 times
Anything that increases security is welcome.
They haven’t lost anything on the motorcycle.
Conclusion
Even if many motorcyclists are skeptical, new assistance systems can ensure more safety and thus fewer accidents. ABS is now part of the equipment standard. It will be similar with many other systems in the future.
