The Japanese designer Toshiyuki Nishino might not quite admit it, but the Suzuki did GSR 600 received loans from the macho machine B-King. This initially only existed as a study and was only launched on the market in 2008. The GSR, on the other hand, has been sweeping all the streets since 2006 and should stir up the middle class dominated by the Honda Hornet and Yamaha FZ6. The somewhat obediently drawn sister Bandit 650 was more appealing to people of reason. And the GSR? That too. Because rock solid and inexpensive. But cool enough to carry away even young beginners with the urge to accelerate.

98 hp, a high-torque, hissing in-line quad (but with noticeable load change reactions), a gearbox that can be shifted precisely, as well as a sufficiently sporty, albeit somewhat too soft, chassis and the muscular exterior were initially well received: around 6000 buyers in the first three years of construction. The fine ABS (from 2007) certainly played its part. In addition, a by no means cheap material appearance and workmanship. But the mini-B-King look of the 600s also polarizes. Since it was replaced by the more agreeable GSR 750 in 2011, the Suzuki GSR 600 has been a bit difficult to sell on the used market. On the other hand, if you like the design, you can get an almost flawless motorcycle for little money.

Speedster on the home route – 600 cubic meters and lively 98 hp are more than enough.

The four-in-line machine can handle speeds, it doesn’t cause any trouble – tested and proven a thousand times over with the GSX-R. But the other parts are also thoroughly reliable. The Suzuki GSR 600 was built with red pencil, but without any nasty side effects. Complete service book, tires still fit and the machine in good condition overall? Access it without hesitation! Be careful only with fall marks that have happened to younger, often cocky previous owners.

And one more thing is important: the first Suzuki GSR 600 (built in 2006) were only available without ABS. If you can live with it, that’s good, but disadvantageous for a resale. The accessories: The Yoshimura exhaust system (at the time offered by Suzuki for a good 800 euros) is considered to be price-increasing. Although the Suzuki GSR 600 has been on the market for some time, some dealers offer new vehicles as daily registrations or demonstrators, mileage: under 100. The prices: around 6000 euros. Logically, “real” used cars can hardly be sold for more than 5000 euros, even if they have only traveled a few thousand kilometers. Even expensive accessories rarely justify higher prices. For its short construction period, the motorcycle is very well represented on the used market overall, apparently former newcomers have little difficulty separating after two or three years of liaison with Suzi – they change saddles and trade in their 600 at the dealer or advertise themselves.

In the price range between 3500 and 5000 euros, there is definitely an oversupply, the demand is limited. Even for specimens hardly older than three years in good condition and with an impeccable maintenance history, a real price decline can be observed. Dealers and private sellers keep each other in balance with these offers. At low prices of around 3,000 euros, the Suzuki GSR 600 is a sought-after rarity among commercial customers due to its great value, especially when the mileage is less than 20,000 kilometers.
