Our 1000-point rating gives every motorcycle the same chance. The same requirements, the same evaluation scheme. We show the top 3 bikes in each class.

Before the 1000-point evaluation, everyone is equal. Regardless of whether it’s a performance superbike or an entry-level cruiser. Every motorcycle has to assert itself – and not just in its parade discipline. The goal: to evaluate bikes of all categories as objectively as possible and to create an all-encompassing comparison.

With issue 6/2019, MOTORRAD has adapted this rating to the demands of technological development and today’s framework conditions. Since then, more points can be collected in the “Safety” chapter, for example, with assistance systems based on lean angles, and the full number of points for the top speed is “already” from 250 km / h. In addition, the test vehicle price also flows directly into the evaluation, which is owed to the jungle of surcharges from some manufacturers and gives the reader more transparency.

106 motorcycles have now been classified in the new ranking, and so it is time for a new list of the best. In order to accompany developments, older model generations remain in the list, with current bikes the most recent test result counts. Incidentally, the overall lead is held by the BMW R 1250 GS with 763 points. We are curious to see whether that will change in 2021. We have compiled the three best of each individual vehicle class for you here.

With 750 points – 75 percent of the maximum number of points – the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT leads the sports tourer / tourer ranking. In MOTORRAD 14/2020 KTM scored its points.
