The full Big Twin pack for less than 13 Mille and thus over 1000 euros cheaper than a Super Glide – that had to be a bargain. At least it made many potential Harley fans, for whom a Sportster was too picky but a brand new Big Twin was too expensive, to visit the Harley dealer. Old rockers with well-hung Evos and also the classic I-drive-Intruder-wants-but-sometime-a-Harley-Biker also poured into the shops.

The powerful thundering and officially pulling Twin Cam 88 engine (TC88 = two camshafts, 88 cubic inch displacement) as well. The rest was extra, and almost every Street Bob customer also ordered forward pegs (with assembly almost 800 euros), accessory exhaust (from 1000 euros) and pillion seat (all around 350 euros). The reliability of the series technology was very good right from the start. Problems can only arise if (inexperienced) remodelers get bogged down in the colorful world of tuning. Then z. B. “Power Commander” and accessory exhaust do not go together properly and the load does not run properly. Since Dyna owners traditionally do much less tinkering than Softail owners, the risk of catching a construction site is limited. Ground footrests and steamed up instruments are the highlights of the deficiencies.

Market situation

The supposed savings model turns out to be a capital investment. While the importer and many of his dealers were initially concerned that the discount big twin could depress the price level in the long term, exactly the opposite has occurred: the Street Bob is extremely price-stable. For less than 10,000 euros, there are only worn handicraft stalls and / or “US direct imports” with a history that is not always entirely clear. With a lot of luck, an “emergency sale” from private customers in the four-digit euro range will also be available at the end of the season if quick cash is required. The typical used business takes place between 10,000 and 11,000 euros. In return, there are solid goods at the dealer, mostly with the classic three conversions (pegs, exhaust, pillion seat) and often with a guarantee. New models from last year are available from 12,000 euros, the (extreme) conversions – which are rather rare with the Street Bob – are located in the range of the list price and above.
