Future study wins design award
At the Tokyo Motor Show 2017, Yamaha presented a very futuristic study called the Yamaha MOTOROiD. Almost 18 months later, the Future Bike won the Global IF Design Award.

A command in Japanese can be heard in the background. The motorcycle in the foreground heard it and woke up. It stands up until it is vertical, then the side stand folds in automatically. Passers-by stop and rub their eyes in amazement. Especially when the motorcycle begins to roll slowly towards its rider. He called it because he wanted to get on and drive off. Science fiction? Not correct. Technology that already exists today, even if only as a single piece. Yet. MOTOROiD has Yamaha called this future study, which was shown in Japan over a year ago, but never publicly in Europe. With the help of artificial intelligence, it is not only able to recognize its driver individually, but also to react to commands given verbally or through gestures.

AMCES – Active Mass Center Control System
Active Mass Center Control System is what Yamaha calls the technology that prevents the motorcycle from falling over. To put it simply, it works like this:
Yamaha
The batteries serve as counterweights.
The guidance of each front and rear wheel can be pivoted laterally against each other to form an imaginary axis from the steering head to the swing arm bearing.
Fed by a sophisticated sensor system, servomotors compensate for any tilting by countermoving and thus keep the motorcycle in permanent balance. The cylindrical lithium-ion batteries in the middle serve as counterweights.
Some things remain analog
The electric drive sits on the hub of the rear wheel manufactured using the 3D printing process and offers forward and backward movement.
Yamaha
This is what the bike of the future looks like?
The rear wings act as a kind of lumbar support for the driver, should integrate him physically into the two-wheeler, they fold away automatically to get on and off.
A driver built entirely analogously from flesh and blood is also planned; he is even supposed to take over tasks such as steering, accelerating and braking using appropriate controls in the cockpit. After all.
MOTOROiD wins design awards
Incidentally, the future study has already won several design awards. Apparently, Yamaha has shown the right nose, at least when it comes to design. Last year, MOTOROiD won the Luminary Award at the Red Dot Award: Design Concept. This was followed by the Gold Award at the International Design Excellence Awards. The Global IF Design Award followed in February 2019.
