Benelli TRK 251/125 2019

Time and comfort have accustomed us to increasingly imposing, powerful and technological trails. Mastodons, tilting unequivocally towards Grand Tourism. Is salvation only in 150 horsepower and self-reflective suspensions? Benelli seems to believe that no. And even displays the opposite. Its trail now goes down to 249 cm3, and thus takes the name TRK 251.

As you might expect, its design is heavily modeled on the 502 brother; himself sketched on the Ducati Multistrada. Question originality, we will come back. But the little adventurer was keen to assert his differences. With a personal steel trellis frame, a more frail and lighter size, and a city car engine. Here is housed a single cylinder of 24.5 horsepower and a little over 2 mkg of torque. A bit tight to try the adventure but the weight of 153 kilos remains tolerable.

A place for raids? OK, but those between the nearby countryside, the lake at the bottom of the mountain and the claws of buildings. The double-stage saddle seems to display an approval and a seat in the same vein. Just like the 17-inch wheels shod with road tires.
For the equipment, the Pesaro brand shows strength as much as simplicity. Of course, the eye is blown away by the inverted 41mm fork. Then, we will have to be satisfied with elements more in adequacy with its division. A single front brake disc, 280 mm, with a 4 piston caliper. No hand guards or center stand. But a good 17-liter tank, ABS, Delphi injection and protection that appears more than correct.
Compared to SUVs in the motorcycle world, this TRK 251 will be able to highlight agility, handling and ease that are closer to the original trail spirit. As well as a budget without common measure. What to put your foot in the stirrup.

Focusing on an offensive in the small and medium cylinders, Benelli reinforces himself from below to approach the adventurers in discovery. He is not the only one, as he joins a small clan made up of the Suzuki 250 V-Strom, BMW G 310 GS and Kawasaki Versys X-300; and not so far the Mash 400 Adventure. Would the wind of a revelation blow on the fairings of the mini-trails? Should we expect an apotheosis of the segment? Certainly in the lands of Asia. On the old continent ….. less secure.

The little TRK should also come in a 125cc version. Its mono will be provided with 12.8 hp and a small mkg. Same technical sheet, same weight, same desires but in a more modest dimension. Since the disappearance of the Varadero, it will be the only one to occupy the trail-road segment in its displacement bracket..
