A racing suit that takes care of ergonomics

Available in 4 colors, sizes from S to 4XL, € 799.90

Bering Supra R suit in profileThe choice of a leather suit is not an easy task: you have to like its look, of course, but also that it is completely forgotten at all levels.. First of all by constituting a real second skin which does not provide any discomfort in use, but also that nothing in its design and the quality of its finish can open up any doubt when you throw yourself into a big curve at 240 km / h, flush with the vibrator. A good leather suit should score in all areas of the game: aesthetics, comfort, psyche…

Thus, Bering is returning to business with this Supra R, developed in collaboration with riders (and on the occasion, in particular, of its partnership with Sylvain Guintoli in the World Superbike) and aims to take care of the details for track use. This is what we will see with this essay.

Presentation

Nothing to say when handling the quality of presentation: the seams and adjustments are impeccable and the alternation between the leather panels (100% cow, pleasant to the touch) and the elements dedicated to flexibility, comfort and protection give the feeling of a well-thought-out combination. Whether it is at the level of the leather gussets above the knees, the stretch panels inside the limbs, the quality of the protective shells at the shoulders, the delicate attentions such as the elbow sliders, or the leather reinforcements at the hips and tailbone, nothing to say, this Supra R gives off a good overall quality.

Whatever color you choose (in addition to our black / white / red test, the Supra R is also available in black / red, black / white / blue and black / white / green), the colored bands remain relatively discreet and above all , blend together to support the pilot’s posture on the machine. The bear logo, the brand’s new identity, however, remains more visible, from the front, back and sides..

A small downside, perhaps? In this test model, the removable mesh lining is attached a little loosely at the calves.

Threading

The zippers go up fairly generously to the calves and forearms. The Bering Supra R, despite its racing vocation, is easy to put on. The flaps are well designed and the zippers don’t get caught in their zippers. Putting on is therefore rather easy and, another pleasant surprise not so widespread on leather suits, we discover a support elastic for the feet in order to refine the man / suit pairing which thus approaches perfection..

The protective shells at the elbows and knees fall well in place and to gain even more precision, those of the knees can be adjustable in height. Decidedly, Bering has multiplied the little attentions so that this Supra R is forgotten.

Be careful, however: the range of sizes offered by Bering for the Supra R is quite wide: from S to 4XL. However, we found the Supra R to be small. Where the assayer is satisfied with an XL in other brands, it will be necessary to go to 2XL or even 3XL to feel comfortable. A try before you buy, therefore, especially if you are not going to your local dealership but to one of the well-established mail order sites..

Once on the back…

Once on the back, this Supra R is effectively forgotten and does not prevent you from putting on big gas, even if we have not pushed professional conscience to test its resistance to abrasion on a loss of l ‘forward in a big curve. But let’s not lose hope, it might come !

In the meantime, the generous perforated leather panels make it comfortable to wear in mid-season. Too bad a small inside pocket is missing at the level of the chest: being able to insert a driver’s license and a credit card would have added a zest of versatility to this combination certainly typed racing, but which can also be worn on the road in connections between two circuits.
