BMW Concept Ninety: memories in orange

Beautifully retro: BMW Motorrad reflects on the 70s with a show bike. The Concept Ninety is reminiscent of the motorcycle design icon R 90 S, which premiered 40 years ago. The resemblance is clear – right down to the eye-catching paintwork.

"With the Concept Ninety, we want to show how reduced and pure an emotional BMW motorcycle can be," says Ola Stenegard, Head of Vehicle Design. The designers worked with former motorcycle racer Roland Sands’ custom bike manufacture. The basic proportions of the Concept Ninety are based on the historical model. The show bike, for example, picks up on the separation of the proportions of the motorcycle that was typical of the time: the upper ergonomic and aerodynamic paneling is visually distinct from the dark area in which the air-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine is located.

  1. unfortunately BMW will….
probably not build this beautiful retro-look motorcycle, the quantities would be too uninteresting for controlling there. A crucial difference to "old" There are R90S, this one was in the GGs. to the retro bike, not a sports motorcycle, but a sporty tourer with a comfortable passenger seat and space for suitcases etc. That’s also why the retro bike will remain a study, not enough interested BMW customers for such a bike. Pity !
