Business - The City of Issoire wants to recover the premises of Voxan -

The town hall of Issoire, which has decided to suspend all public aid to Voxan, is preparing to seize the Clermont-Ferrand court to force the company to return the 7,000 m2 of premises it has occupied since 2002 for one euro. symbolic…

The difficulties seem decidedly to accumulate for Voxan: the French motorcycle manufacturer based in Issoire (Puy-de-Dôme), which has all the difficulties in the world to sell machines yet well born at the time of their launch (108 sales of motorcycles l last year, 287 in 2005, 299 in 2004, 126 in 2003 …), today finds himself threatened with having to leave the 7000 m2 premises he occupies in Issoire.

According to The Communes Gazette", the municipal council of the city would indeed have decided"unanimously to suspend all public aid to the company". The mayor of Issoire, Pierre Pascallon, would also have obtained from the municipal council the authorization to seize the tribunal de grande instance of Clermont-Ferrand for"force Voxan to return the 7,000 m2 of premises it has occupied since 2002 for the symbolic euro".

Granted to Didier Cazeaux in 2002 when he took over Voxan (read), this gesture by the municipality of Issoire had to be compensated by "the commitment to create jobs and maintain the plant in Issoire".

"It was then a question of taking on 14 employees to bring the workforce to 26 in 2003, and restarting production with targets of 600 to 1,000 machines that same year and 1,500 in 2004.", remember The Communes Gazette.

Today, the mayor of Issoire finds only very moderately amusing to note that despite "the free rent (2,815 €) granted to Voxan for the period from October 2002 to September 2005, followed by a deferment of rent until September 2008, the words were not kept".

When he took over in 2002, Didier Cazeau had nevertheless insisted on "pay tribute to local communities, whose help is essential in such a complicated matter"(read our report).

With a debt assessed by our colleagues from Motorcycle Journal at "1.5 million euros", Voxan can only count today on its reindustrialisation agreement signed with Sidam (read our interview with Pierre Laurent-Chauvet,), which should also allow it to open its capital to Chinese companies in order to find a new breath…
