Voxan will restart production
The signing of the takeover of Voxan by Didier Cazeaux and the creation of a new company allowed French motorcycles to restart. Relief and optimism in Issoire where the operational director, Didier Tirard, presents his objectives to us.
"Voxan, hello ?"The warm and cheerful tone of the Voxan switchboard operator could sum up in itself the new situation of the French motorcycle. Exit the haunting message from France Telecom informing the interlocutors that their call could not be successful, soaring the bitter disappointments born during the takeover by Merker – who has also just declared himself insolvent. "We are indeed on the right track", confirms Didier Tirard, operational director of Voxan and chairman of the board of the Societe de conception et de construction de motocycles (SCCM), the new entity in charge of French motorcycles after its takeover by the Girondin investor Didier Cazeaux (read) . "Production will restart in the spring, continues Didier Tirard: our small team of 15 people will produce around 800 motorcycles in 2003, which is not enough to supply everyone, but you have to be careful! We will then increase to 1,500 motorcycles in 2004, to reach our cruising speed of 2,000 to 2,500 motorcycles per year in 2005. Voxan remains in a high-end niche market, which will allow us to quickly reach our breakeven point, and our vehicles remain very different from what the Japanese do !". Twelve additional people will be hired in production from April 2003 to relaunch the brand’s three models: the Scrambler, which represents 50% of production alone, the Cafe Racer and the Roadster. Prices have not yet been set. , but they will not be "only slightly revised upwards compared to 2001", promises Didier Tirard, who does not wish to comment on the possibility of new models. Boxer Design’s VB1, highly appreciated on a personal basis by Didier Cazeaux, will integrate the Voxan range, as Thierry’s company asserts Henriette? Is a new version of the Roadster already under study, as the limited series exhibited by Boxer Design in its Toulouse showroom might suggest? The bets are off !
