The extreme builders of Confederate Motorcycles renamed themselves Curtiss in 2018 to only build electric motorcycles. The gasoline-indulging buffoons with martial names such as F117 Fighter, Hellcat, Combat Fighter and Combat Bomber will be continued under new management and under the new Combat brand.

Combat Wraith

The latest work is the Wraith, which does not even want to hide its origins from the milling machines and heads of the Confederate under a new label. This includes four important features: the glazed airbox from the unclad, milled central frame made of aluminum, the girder fork at the front, the enormous sight glass for the tank contents, on which the driver is sitting, and of course the huge V2 from S&S. In the Wraith, the giant draws a good 200 Nm at 2,000 tours and 145 hp at 5,100 revolutions from a displacement of 2.2 liters. The engine is a so-called “Stressed member”. That has nothing to do with burn-out, but with the supporting function of the engine.

Suspension exotic

In addition to the engine, the front girder fork with the carbon cladding is just as eye-catching as the cantillever swing arm with the almost invisible built-in side damping. Both fork and swingarm carry carbon rims from BST in 17 inches at the rear and 19 inches at the front. At the rear, a Pirelli tire in 240/45 ZR 17 tries to tame the force. Correct: That is the dimension of the Ducati Diavel in the rear. Behringer saddles and discs are used for braking.

Dimensions, weight and price

Anyone who thinks they have to move American heavy metal is wrong: 254 kilograms are not small for a two-wheeler, but a 2.2-liter twin has a lot of momentum and mass. The exotic chassis components look wild, but the chassis geometry seems conservative: 63 degrees steering head angle, 100 millimeters of caster and 1,587 millimeters of wheelbase is quite agile and could also be from a current naked bike or sports bike. Only the price is exotic, wild, almost absurd: 155,000 dollars (128,000 euros) for the naked aluminum version, 165,000 dollars (138,000 euros) for the black anodized version. Euro 1 to Euro 5: Difficult, although as a small series you could probably allow the Wraith.
