Rally-raid: 70 Yamaha riders in Dakar 2013
On Saturday January 5, the Dakar will start from Lima (Peru) for a fortnight of racing to Santiago (Chile). 220 motorcycle and quad riders participate in the 2013 edition of the largest rally-raid in the world (read in particular MNC of July 24, 2012), including no less than 70 Yamaha representatives.

Among them, 49 bikers and 21 quad riders will benefit from the support of the brand with three tuning forks.
Riding a sharp YZF 450 Rallye, Frans Verhoeven will ride for the HFP Off Road Yamaha Netherland team, while the Yamaha Racing France Yamalube team will field a "young wolf", the Frenchman Michael Metge, alongside the experienced Olivier Pain (9th in 2012). Romain Souvignet will play the role of water carrier for the French team.
Determined to erase the disappointment of last year (41st), David Casteu approaches the event with optimism and aims to play at the forefront with his YZF 450 Rallye prepared by his structure Casteu Adventure.
Deprived of Dakar since 2010 due to injuries, David Fretigne is back in business riding "his" WRF450 Rallye, a motorcycle with which he clinched a stage victory and fifth place overall in his last participation.
Yamaha Motor France is also teaming up with the Argentinian Yamaha team to race the biker Mauricio Gomez (YZF 450 Rallye) and the quad rider Marcos Patronelli (YFM 700). Finally, as in previous years, the Yamaha HFP structure will also provide assistance to "customer" pilots such as Harite Gabari, Gilles Gard, Eric Croquelois, Vincent Guindani, Jean-Christophe Menard and Rod Fagotter.
High goals
"Following the encouraging results of Olivier Pain and Frans Verhoeven at the Rallye du Maroc, we hope to once again be able to fight for the places of honor", ambitions Jose Leloir, competition manager at Yamaha Motor France.
