Defoliants

A ride on the Sportclassic, which was converted by Ducati Niederrhein, is enough to shake dry leaves from the branches on the last sunny days of autumn. At least if the dB eater is not in the conical Termignoni end piece. Even the hard of hearing should immediately realize that the system is not legal in this form. The initial listening pleasure could even be a problem for racers, as the pot is certainly too loud for some racetracks. But the TÜV-compliant version with dB-Eater still sounds refreshing. In addition, the Lower Rhine-based Ducati presses two additional horsepower on the test stand role, without the noise-reducing use it is four horsepower more than the series machine (92 hp).

Visually, the two-in-one stainless steel system from Termignoni from the Ducati Performance program with its filigree damper is unbeatable anyway. It replaces the bulky original system and saves a full six kilograms in weight. Other precious parts from the program found their way to the sport. The sleek DS 1000-Twin got different camshafts, a flywheel 1.2 kilograms lighter and an anti-hopping clutch from STM. The air filter box is optimized to promote throughput and the mapping of the engine electronics is adapted to the changed peripherals. This lively engine is joined by fork and strut from Ohlins as well as lighter wheels that are supposed to liven up the handling. While a noble, light carbon-magnesium specimen rotates in the front of the test machine (without ABE), the five-spoke wheel from the Monster S4R is used at the rear. The result of the consistent lightweight construction is impressive, the Duc weighs just 180 kilograms. For comparison: the series machine weighs 198 kilograms.

The renovation work also bears fruit on the road, because the Sport 1000 turns much more nimbly than its series counterpart. It increases this handling advantage with increasing speed, without being nervous about the steering axis. The improved dynamics of the V-Two go well with the winged nature, because it pushes forward much more powerfully, not least thanks to the shorter gear ratio (14/40 instead of 15/38 teeth).

The picture is rounded off by the sensitive Ohlins chassis. Comfortable and with good damping reserves, it flattens unevenness and ensures a smooth and precise line. In order to preserve the condition of the driver, we recommend using the handlebars that are 40 millimeters higher. Anyone who goes off with the deep series stumbles may develop lower back pain pretty quickly.
