Ducati 999 R 2005

Menus

A real Superbike equipped with indicators, Ducati’s most accomplished machine is getting a little facelift for the fall season. The 999 R of 2005 pushes the refinements a little further and raises the level established by its predecessor. Still entirely in carbon, the fairing is somewhat retouched at the height of the fork crown: the 2 gills located above the forced air intakes have disappeared. Protection should improve slightly with the adoption of a higher bubble.
Side part-cycle, the Italian factory remains faithful to Ohlins suspensions (improved) and Brembo radial braking. Note the appearance of a new reinforced swing arm whose axle support is now made of aluminum. New carbon parts and here is the weight that drops to 181 kg dry.
Less weight but also more power – that’s the golden rule and the 999 R is no exception. The twin comes out 11 hp more than the previous version and spits 150 nags. To do this, the engineers worked hard on the cylinder head: titanium valves with increased diameter, increased compression ratio, modified valve seats and guides … The electronic control unit saw its computing power increased, the cylinders are new and improved gas flow.
The price shouldn’t budge and that’s good. The 30 bars to go out to afford this gem reserve it for the wealthy and privileged (France was only entitled to 11 Ducati 999 R 2004 – I had the chance to see one during my vacation on the Mediterranean coast). But is it necessary to talk about money to drive Laconi’s motorcycle ?
