GP of Emilia-Romagna: Fabio-lous Quartararo confirms in FP2

Best time this morning in FP1, Fabio Quartararo confirms in FP2 and ranks third, one breath away from Brad Binder and Takaaki Nakagami. Bodes well for the excellent "20 French" who – although very young – could take back first place in the championship after the Emilia-Romagna GP this weekend in Misano…

With five riders in the same tenth of a second at the end of FP2 (Brad Binder on KTM, Takaaki Nakagami on Honda, Fabio Quartararo on Yamaha, Maverick Viñales on Yamaha and Pol Espargaro on KTM), the GP of Emilia-Romagna s ‘particularly tight announcement, like the 2020 MotoGP World Championship, the seventh event of which is to be followed this weekend on MNC.

Behind these five riders who all drove in 1’31 follow Danilo Petrucci (Ducati), Miguel Oliveira (KTM) and Johann Zarco (Ducati), tenth in the two sessions. Valentino Rossi only realizes 12th time, a good half a second behind the leaders while Franco Morbidelli – winner on Sunday on the same private Yamaha as Fabio – is ranked 14th this afternoon and 6th overall.

At Honda, Nakagami saves the furniture on his RCV of the LCR team: Alex Marquez only achieved the 12th and 16th fastest times, Cal Crutchlow is absent due to injury and Stefan Bradl – Marc Marquez’s replacement – throws in the towel and withdraws this weekend because of his arm pain…
