The Fat Boy
The company is annoying, the domestic kite is also making the wave, and the bricks don’t rest. What to do? Buy Fat Boy! You don’t need a chill course, a fitness bracelet with sleep phase monitoring and also no colored pills to finally come to rest again. You only need this heavy hum, weighing around 330 kilograms, and two hours on Sunday morning to make your life much easier on the heart and nerves. Running boards that touch down very, very early, only moderately motivated brakes, only rudimentary spring travel? For free. Does a Saint Bernard owner complain that his Fiffi is only partially suitable as a lap dog or for greyhound races? Even!
Since the turn of the millennium, around 9,000 enlightened people in this country have realized that a fat boy can be something very healthy. The used market is accordingly well stocked, and potential buyers can choose between four different expansion stages. As there are: The Twin Cam 88B engine, which from the 2000 model year replaced the veteran Evolution engine of the Fat Boy first edition. Twin Cam stands for two camshafts, the 88 for the displacement in cubic inches (88 cubic inches correspond to 1449 cm²) and the B for “balanced”, because the engine, which is rigidly screwed into the frame, is equipped with two balance shafts.
The TC88B engine, which was initially carburettor-fired and later also available with an injection system, was followed by the TC96B (1584 cm³), the current engine has the abbreviation TC103B (1690 cm³). And if you are lucky enough to get the famous Fat Boy S, which can only be found in the range as a new machine in 2016/17 because of Euro 3, you can even look forward to the TC110B with a full 1801 cm³. perfomance?
In the case of the Fat Boy it is rather secondary, but for those who really want to know: The offer ranges from the 63 hp of the TC88B carburettor to the 92 hp of the TC110B. Much more important is the realization that the Fat Boy has always looked the same since 1990, but has been technically improved from year to year.
Only one thing really stayed the same: her sensational ability to slow down.
