Company spokesman names problem “individual case”
After Harley-Davidson had to stop production of the LiveWire in mid-October, production of the electric motorcycle at the Harley-Davidson plant in York, Pennsylvania, is now up and running again.

The magazine “Forbes” quotes a company spokesman. Accordingly, the identified charging problem is “an isolated case” been. According to the spokesman, the warning was from Harley-Davidson to its customers not to charge LiveWire that has already been delivered at their home socket. Be there “no changes in the manufacturing process (the LiveWire, Red.) necessary and it goes on”, so the Harley-Davidson spokesman loudly “Forbes.” Harley-Davidson did not provide any further details on the exact reasons for the LiveWire production stop, which lasted around a week.
In mid-October, Harley-Davidson confirmed to the US media that it had temporarily stopped series production and delivery of the LiveWire model, which had just started. The US company did not provide any information about the reasons, except that they discovered a problem with the Level1 charger integrated into the LiveWire or the associated charging cable.
LiveWire not yet approved in Germany
LiveWire owners in the USA were asked, according to media reports, not to refuel their e-motorcycle with the charger at the socket for the time being. Instead, LiveWire riders could use the fast charging stations offered by Harley dealers in the US. There is no danger when driving the 106 hp e-motorcycle, according to a Harley-Davidson dealer announcement from the New Yorker “Wall Street Journal” quoted.
Harley-Davidson stated that tests are currently being conducted related to the problem it has discovered. The bottom line was that these were positive. However, Harley-Davidson has not yet given any information about when production of the world’s first electrically powered series motorcycle from a major manufacturer could be restarted. In Germany, the first Harley-Davidson LiveWire were originally supposed to come to dealerships in September 2019 at a price of 33,550 euros each. However, none has yet been approved in German-speaking countries.
