The fastest lap was secured by the Austrian Thomas Gradinger on his Yamaha YZF-R6. He was the only driver in the field to break the 1.30 mark. In the end there was a 1: 29.935 on the timetable. Marc Buchner (Yamaha) came in second with a 1: 30,142. Followed by Kevin Wahr (Yamaha), Vasco van der Valk (Yamaha) and Jonas Geitner (Kawasaki).

2nd free practice (September 1st, 2:25 pm to 2:50 pm)

Best time and fall: Thomas Gradinger experienced a rollercoaster of emotions in the second free practice session in the IDM Supersport 600. The Austrian set the fastest time in Oschersleben’s 2nd free practice with 1: 29.821. However, the Yamaha rider fell before the end of the second training session, but luckily he was unharmed.

The second fastest time in the second free practice went to Marc Buchner (1: 30.042), ahead of Kevin Wahr (1: 30.070), Jonas Geitner (1: 30.202) and Vasco van der Valk (1: 30.545).

1. Qualifying (2.9., 9:00 a.m. to 9:25 a.m.)

The Austrian Thomas Gradinger continues where he left off yesterday and secures the fastest time in the first qualifying. The Austrian was almost 0.7 seconds faster than second-placed Marc Buchner. Kawasaki driver Jonas Geitner missed a 1.29 time by a hair’s breadth and lapped the course in 1: 30.001.

2nd qualifying (September 2nd, 12:30 pm to 12:55 pm)

Already in the first qualifying session, Yamaha rider Thomas Gradinger showed that he would be giving the beat in free practice this weekend, despite the heavy fall on Friday. Jonas Geitner, the flagship of Kawasaki, follows in second place, just 0.083 seconds behind. The surprise of the qualifying in the IDM Supersport 600 class was definitely Manou Antweiler, who changed teams and motorcycle brands before the race in Oschersleben and, as Geitner’s new team-mate, catapulted himself to third place on the grid.

Christian Stange starts in the second row ahead of Gradinger’s biggest title contender, Kevin Wahr from Nagold. Yamaha driver Wahr is, however, already 0.8 seconds behind the pole setter in sixth place. In between, Marc Buchner was just able to place himself on his Yamaha. The two races, each lasting 16 laps, will start on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and will certainly be very exciting with this training result. (Armin Juppenlatz)

1st race (3.9., 11:00 a.m.)

Thomas Gradinger from Austria drove to a controlled victory with his Yamaha YZF-R6 at the IDM in Oschersleben in the Supersport 600 class. His brand colleague Kevin Wahr followed in second place with a gap of just 0.743 seconds. Marc Buchner took third place on the podium, completing the three-time Yamaha podium. Gradinger pulled away from the field from the start. He was followed on the first lap by Kawasaki driver Jonas Geitner, who fell back to twelfth position due to a driving error on the first lap. True, on the other hand, was able to burn off real fireworks in the first laps and at this time drove the fastest laps in the field all the time.

For Manou Antweiler, who was third on the grid, the speed of the top drivers couldn’t keep up. At the beginning he slipped back to sixth place. After Gradinger had sorted himself out a bit, he steadily expanded his lead on True. However, with his sprint at the beginning of the race, the Nagolder had also gained a considerable distance from his pursuers and was able to manage this very well. Yamaha rider Marc Buchner won the battle for third place. After a constant exchange of blows with Max Enderlein, the 26-year-old Buchner finally prevailed against Manou Antweiler on his Kawasaki. After his weak phase at the beginning of the race, Antweiler was plowed through the field.

On the last lap he benefited from a mistake made by his Yamaha brand colleague Enderlein. Christian Stange, who started the race from fourth place after a long injury break, was able to establish himself in sixth place with his Kawasaki in the race. Three races before the end of the season, Gradinger is more and more clearly ahead of Kevin Wahr and could, if True only manage a third place in the third from last race, with a victory in the afternoon, the championship title for himself. 2nd race (3.9., 3 p.m.)

Thanks to a victory by Yamaha rider Marc Buchner from Konigswinter in the second round of the IDM Supersport 600 in Oschersleben, the Austrian Thomas Gradinger, who also started on a Yamaha, won the Supersport 600 title prematurely with a second place. Christian Stange crossed the finish line on his Kawasaki in third place.

Kevin Wahr put a rocket launch on the asphalt. But then he was quickly overtaken by Marc Buchner, who drove a great race in almost dry conditions. After just a few laps, he had established a comfortable lead of over seven seconds. He was followed on the first laps by Kevin Wahr on his Yamaha, while the Austrian Thomas Gradinger got off to a bad start, but then set significantly faster lap times than True. After a short time Gradinger passed Kevin Wahr and went on the hunt for Marc Buchner. The Nagold Kevin Wahr, on the other hand, was passed back and forth with his Yamaha.

Christian Stange won the fight for the place of honor on the podium in front of Vasco van der Valk and Jonas Geitner. In the end, the trio crossed the finish line with a gap of just 0.3 seconds. Behind them was Manou Antweiler on a Kawasaki, ahead of the two Yamaha riders Max Enderlein and Alen Gyorfi. Kevin Wahr was unable to keep up with these conditions and crossed the finish line in ninth place. So he couldn’t collect enough points to have a chance for the title at the IDM final in Hockenheim. For the grand finale with the last two races of the IDM Supersport 600 class, the drivers and teams will meet on the weekend of 29.09. until October 1st, 2017 at the Hockenheimring.
