Iwan Bikes has developed a sidecar conversion for the new Indian Chief Bobber, which will serve as the basis for all trailer conversions from Iwan.

At Iwan Bikes, as a longstanding dealer of the Russian sidecars from the Urals, the doorbell rings in the cash register. The brands Royal Enfield, Zero and Indian can be found in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm at Iwan. However, core competencies are trailer conversions from our own development and made in Bavaria. Sidecars have been built in the Hallertau since 1993, the latest being a sidecar for the brand new Indian Chief Bobber with the in-house Bellavista boat.

The basis of the conversion is the new sidecar frame, which Iwan Bikes manufactures from seamless, hand-welded round tubing. The frame is designed universally and can be soled with aluminum rims or spoked wheels for car tires as well as with normal motorcycle tires. Regardless of which tires are chosen: The wheel is always disc-braked. The Iwan frame is screwed to the main frame of the Indian at four points. The wire spoke wheel is attached to the hub with a central nut in proper style and has a 175 / 55R15 tire. The boat itself has a lockable trunk and can be supplied with heated seats on request. Other options include a windshield and luggage rack. The matt black paintwork of the sidecar was adopted from the motorcycle and supplemented with airbrushes from the Indian model history. A tribute to 120 years of Indian Motorcycles. Iwan Bikes did not name prices for the modifications. Inquiries do not cost anything.

Conclusion

The chronicler admits that he himself occasionally checks out carriages for the garage at home. The Indian and sidecar combo is attractive, but likely costly. The Indian Chief Bobber costs just under 20,000 euros out of the box and the Bavarian workmanship will also cost its part. A nice paint job then comes on top.
