The Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM is rounding off its travel enduro program for the 1290s with a slimmed-down basic version.

the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S. for the road-oriented travel endurist, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R. for the hardcore off-roader among the endurance travelers as well. What is still missing is a simpler basic version for everyone.
And that doesn’t seem too far away, as EU type approval documents now reveal. There, in addition to the S and the R, a third 1290 Super Adventure appears, but with a weight of 240 kilograms it remains below the sister models.
Weight down, price too
It is unlikely that the lower weight results from the use of even more lightweight components. The Austrians are much more likely to reduce the equipment. This is where the basic model concept comes into play again. The Standard 1290 Super Adventure is likely to share the road layout with the S, but forego its radar system and semi-active chassis. Whoops, five kilograms have already been saved and the base price has also dropped. Possible target price: down a thousand and thus just under 17,000 euros.
