LS2 brings the new FF805 Thunder straight from the Moto2 and Moto3 racetracks to the road. The carbon helmet comes in eight versions, with six visors and weighs 1,400 grams.

LS2 brings with the FF805 Thunder a full-face helmet on the racetracks and roads. As a FIM-homologated version, it will be honored in individual paintwork in Moto2 and Moto3 in 2021. As a street-legal version, the carbon helmet is available in seven variants. The Thunder can be further customized with five color-tinted or mirrored visors.

Comfort of the LS2 FF805 Thunder

LS2 builds the sports helmet with a carbon shell in which a multilayer EPS dome provides cushioning. A removable, hyperallergenic inner lining and the laser-cut foam of the upholstery ensure fit and comfort. A small curtain made of fabric is pulled down on the chin for little wind pressure and for sound insulation on the neck. The dome is traversed with air channels. They connect forehead ventilation with the openings on the head and the exhaust ducts on the rear spoiler. The pin-lock-capable visor is also supported by a breath deflector on the chin guard.

Security of the LS2 FF802 Thunder

LS2 also highlights the high level of comfort of the Thunder in terms of safety. This active safety aspect is supplemented by several passive ones. These include the multi-layered dome, a reinforced chinstrap and a very clearly marked emergency release system for the cheek pads. Placed on the shell LS2 reflective decorative elements at important points. The standardization according to ECE22.05 is the current standard, the new 22.06 does not yet apply to the new FF805. The FIM version of the Thunder, which is also available, meets the current requirements for being driven at the motorcycle world championships. For the homologation the helmet has to do a lot more than for the 22.05: On the one hand, it should ensure that the head can rotate easily in the dome to protect the cervical spine in order to compensate for violent angular impulses. Another addition is a significantly tougher impact test and an abrasion test on asphalt. The point with the rotation of the head in particular is reminiscent of the ECE22.06 for new homologated helmets that will soon come into effect.

LS2 brings the new FF805 Thunder onto the market in a FIM version, as well as seven design versions homologated according to ECE-22.05. The prices on the German market start at just under 450 euros for the black version, go over 500 euros for the color variants to a good 600 euros for the FIM version of the FF805 Thunder. In addition to the clear visor, LS2 offers five options for changing the visor’s color. All visor options come with the pin-lock preparation on the inside and the tear-off visor holders on the outside. The Thunder is available in sizes XS to 2XL, depending on the size, different sized outer shells are used. LS2 specifies the weight as 1,400 grams +/- 50 depending on the size.
