Market reports - First half of 2016: Ducati's market report - Used DUCATI

Ducati has just completed the first half of 2016 with a jump of + 38.8% and has a total of 3,907 registrations. The General Manager of the Italian brand in France, Thierry Mouterde, delivers his impressions to MNC readers. First assessment…

Site: The retrofit was not legalized until mid-April. What effects did this have on your start of the year ?

Thierry Mouterde, General Manager Ducati West Europe: The problem only partially impacted us because many of our new products were available in Euro4 version from January 2016 (,,,, or 50% of our range). The other vehicles all have ABS, so they were all subject to change with the new law and therefore did not suffer too much in sales..

"If there were a few large production factories on French territory, the attitude of the public authorities would be quite different"

MNC: Road crackdown, traffic ban in some large cities, A2 license for all … Many brakes – even "sticks in the wheels"! – limit the practice of motorized two-wheelers in France. According to you, why the motorcycle is considered in France as a problem and not a solution ?

T. M.: I think the main reason is that no world famous brand is of French nationality. If there were a few large production factories on French territory, the attitude of the public authorities would be quite different towards motorized two-wheelers..

MNC: On the sales side, on the other hand, these new texts or standards can promote the new home market … To what extent does your brand take these changes into account, especially in France ?

T. M.: It is too early to tell, but those who drive a vehicle over 16 years old do so either out of a desire to collect or because they cannot afford to buy new. I therefore think that it is the second-hand market for vehicles between 5 and 10 years old that will benefit..

MNC: What is your assessment of your first six months? ?

T. M.: It is positive and follows on from one. Finishing Vs 2015 demonstrates the success of our various novelties.

MNC: How is your second semester 2016 going? ?

T. M.: We should keep this trend and hopefully end 2016 with a new sales record..
