Market reports - The market decline is confirmed in September - The market decline is confirmed

17,671 motorcycles found buyers in France in September, a further drop in sales of -15.2% compared to last year. It should also be noted that the 125 are more affected than the large engines: figures, charts and complete reports.

The market decline is confirmed

In September 2009, the motorcycle market in France recorded 17,671 registrations while last year over the same month – and the same number of working days, namely 22 -, it blithely exceeded 20,000 units (20,849 exactly. , read).

But we cannot repeat it enough: these evolutions are relative … to the previous year! However, the results of this year are compared with those of 2008, when the French market for motorcycles and scooters over 50 cc once again broke its own records..

Moreover, since the introduction of the new SIV (read), anomalies can be observed: some days, manufacturers are even in the negative: they "unregister" vehicles! Over short periods, and in particular on the scale of a month, this can distort the figures, hence the interest of keeping an eye on the cumulative sales since January 1.

However, the monthly drop suffered last month (-15.2%) corresponds to that observed since the beginning of the year (-16.3%). Within the 125 market and that of large cubes, the trends are also confirmed: -20.2% in September and -21.7% over the first nine months for small engines, and -8.8% and -11 , 1% for large.

We will observe that in general, the builders in the middle of the table defend themselves better than the leaders or the "others": in 125 cc, the Taiwanese and the Chinese achieve good scores while in "more than 125", they are Westerners doing the best.
