Motorcycle market: February in bad January…
After a negative first month 2017 (-8.2%), the motorbike and scooter market unfortunately continued its momentum in February (-8%). The big engines are doing less badly than the 125 cc, thanks to the first innovations in particular. Here is the complete MNC review.
Page 1 – February follows the trend of January
Although February has only 28 days (29 last year!), It is still better than January (31 days) in terms of sales of motorcycles and scooters. 2017 was no exception with 8,786 motorcycles registered in France in the second month, compared to 7,151 in the first….
The sunny days are still waiting, however some bikers and "scootomobilists" more eager than others are already cracking on certain novelties spotted at international – then regional fairs! – and already available in concession.
Old blunderbuss…
Our compatriots may have cracked because of their old blunderbuss which only starts once in four, does not have heated grips, does not include piloting aids … or simply no longer has the right to drive in the city center ?!
Positive compared to January, the month of February 2017 is not so compared to which had seen sales of motorcycles and scooters increase by + 10.6% (Vs). This year, the market fell by -8%, as it had done in (-8.2% compared to January 2016 as a reminder).
It is possible to mitigate the decrease in February by taking into account the number of working days, unfavorable this year: 20 days in February 2017 compared to 21 in February 2016, i.e. a correction of around 5%. But this is not the case considering the number of concession opening days (perfect equality, 20 everywhere).
On the weather side, based on the reports of the French specialist, we observe that February 2017 was slightly more lenient towards users – and buyers – of two-wheelers: we certainly had to endure several stormy passages, but the temperatures were at -above normal, less rainfall than a year ago and better sunshine.
